Tecis is the licensed platform behind our advice. Athaus.ai is the first partner we chose against the criteria below, and tested with our own flat search. More join as they pass: tax, legal and jobs are in conversation. We would rather add slowly than add wrong.

Tecis is not a partner we picked off a list; it is the platform Unlock Germany is registered with. Unlock Germany is an independent, English-first brand powered by tecis Finanzdienstleistungen AG, a Swiss Life company advising across Germany since 1986. You deal with us; Tecis provides the platform, licensing and the vetted partner panel behind the scenes. Around 250 insurers, banks and fund providers are compared for every recommendation, and the reasoning goes in writing.

Housing: search, apply, buy or rent

Athaus.ai

Athaus is a German real-estate marketplace with an AI brokerage behind it. One search covers the whole German market instead of five portals, and when you find a place, Athaus applies on your behalf. Buyers pay nothing; sellers pay a commission only on a completed sale. We chose it because the newcomer disadvantage in a flat search is mostly speed and paperwork, and that is exactly what it removes.

Our selection criteria

What a partner has to prove before we trust our clients to them.

Six questions. A partner has to pass all of them, and keep passing them.

They work in English, properly

Not a hotline with one English speaker. Documents, contracts, support and the small print you actually sign have to be readable by someone who arrived last month.

They already serve internationals well

A partner has to show us how they handle people without a German credit history, a Schufa record, or a permanent contract. If the honest answer is 'badly', they are not on the list.

We have used them ourselves

Someone on our team has been through the process as a client, not as a demo. If we would not trust a friend to them, we do not trust you to them.

Fees and commissions are on the table

We say what a partner charges and what, if anything, they pay us. A referral we cannot explain in one sentence is a referral we do not make.

No exclusivity, no pressure

You can always walk away, compare, or ask us to look at an alternative. Partners who need a hard sell do not fit how we work.

The relationship is reviewed

We ask the people we refer how it went. A partner that stops delivering leaves the list. That is why it is short.

Cooperations that do not meet the bar are a no, even when they would pay well. How we get paid.
